The word "Hetep", is commonly pronounced "Hotep", today by many people. Various scholars have stated that "Hetep" means "peace", which is true. The problem comes with most of these scholars making it seems like "Hetep" only means peace. A lot of these metaphysical negros paint a picture of our Ancestresses and Ancestors being Non-Violent, or that Violence was a learned behavior from other races. This simply is not true. The word "Hetep" itself is proof of that.
The word "Hetep", which translates as "to be at peace" or "satisfied", also translate as "to cut" or "to wound." This shows that our Ancestresses and Ancestors viewed being "peaceful" and being "warriors" as not being in conflict with each other.
The word "Hetep" also refers to altars/shrines. This shows the relationship between our Ancestral Religion and and being at Peace. In fact, one of the names of the Ancestral Realm is "Sekhet-Hetep", which means "Fields of Peace." It also shows a relationship between our Ancestral Religion and Warfare. This means that being at peace, being a warrior or warrioress, and practicing Afrikan Traditional Religion all go hand and hand. These three things are inseparable.
Another meaning of the word "Hetep" is actually the name of different Divinities. There is a God named "Hetep", and there is a Goddess named "Hetepet". Some ther Divinities either have "Hetep" in their name, or take in on in their titles. Some examples are the God An-Hetep and the Goddess Het-Heru; one of Het-Heru's titles is "Nebet Hetepet". "Hetep" was also used in peoples names. The were 6 kings named Mentu-Hetep and 4 kings name Amen-Hetep. There was also Ptah-Hetep and Im-Hetep who were both visors to the kings.
Nowadays, negroes are using "Hetep" as a negative term. They will call you a "Hotep" if they feel you are "overly conscious." The real ignorant ones will call you a "Hotep nigga" or "Hotep bitch." These are the same negores that try to make europe or asia the birth place of Civilization and/or tries to promote "interracialism" and "multiculturalism". People who use "Hetep" in a negative manner are really just saying that they feel malice towards being Afrikan. They have no love for Afrikan Culture or for their Afrikan Ancestresses and Ancestors. These are the negroes we need to be weary of.
