The Truth About the Maroons and the Seminoles

There is very much confusion around the words #Seminole and #Maroon. Lots of people think they are the names of so-called "native amerikkkan" tribes. Other people claim that they are "aboriginal moors." Both of these claims are invalid.

The terms "seminole" and "maroon" were both names used by europeans to reference enslaved Afrikans who gained their freedom and established Independent Communities the western hemisphere. Neither group ever referred to themselves as "seminoles" or "maroons." They all formed distinct Ethnic identities that reflected their Ethnic Origin in Afrika.

The Coromantee groups were Afrikans who freed themselves from enslavement in Jamaica. The name "Coromantee" was derived from the name of the slave fort of Fort Kormantine in Koromanti, Ghana

Accompong is a historical village located in the hills of St. Elizabeth Parish on the Island of Jamaica. The name Accompong is derived from the Akan name Acheampong.

The Saamaka, the Paamaka, the Ndyuka (Aukan), the Kwinti, the Aluku (Boni), and the Matawa are the six "maroon peoples" of Suriname.

The Garifuna are descendants of "maroon" communities that developed on the island of Saint Vincent.

Angola Janga" which meant "Little Angola, was a Afrikan settlement in Brazil that waged war against the portuguese, burned downed plantations, and freed enslaved Afrikans.

The so-called "Cimarrónes" in panama built settlements andwaged war against the spanish enslavers.

After the war of 1812, General Andrew Jackson attacked the "Negro Fort", which had become a "Seminole" stronghold after the British left Florida. Breaking up communities was one of Jackson's major objectives in the "first seminole war" (1817–18). General Thomas Sydney Jesup, upon assuming command in Florida, writing Acting Secretary of War Benjamin Butler with his assessment of the war: “This, you may be assured, is a negro, not an Indian war; and if it be not speedily put down, the south will feel the effects of it on their slave population before the end of the next season.” The people labeled as "seminoles" were really the Gullah-Geechee people of the southeast united states.

Our Afrikan Ancestresses and Ancestors were not docile negroes, like what we see today. They Warrioresses and Warriors who HATED their enslavers and fought them to the death. They were no less successful against fighting their enemies than the Afrikans who remained in Afrika. Our story has been white washed to make us think we were easily conquered and that we didn't fight back. And the agents of white supremacy (moors, hebrews, five percenters) work hard to push the propaganda of our enemies. Be careful who you follow or get information from.
